ST X-Press Magazine, P.O. Box 2383, La Habra CA 90632
Tel: (213) 691-8000
This archive contains MUSICOMM, a unique package which brings both
Music & MIDI to the telecommunications world.
MUSICOMM is a group of files which consist as follows
1) MUSICOMM.ACC - This is a desk accessory that you can use with your
favorite GEM Based Term Program (FLASH, INTERLINK ST, etc).
It has been developed to interpret the Music files which
are sent via modem with our Musicomm driver for FoReM ST.
2) MUSICOMM.TTP - This is the driver program which can be installed using
the "Doors" feature on FoReM ST available from Comnet Systems.
Musicomm has been fully tested and works great with their
bulletin board program.
3) SUPERMAN.TRX - Song file (Theme from SUPERMAN: The Movie)
4) STARTREK.TRX - Song file (Theme from STAR TREK: The Movie)
Musicomm will load any song file specifically made for Mikeytraxx, which
is currently available from ST X-Press for less than $20.00. These
files can be loaded with our Musicomm driver, transmitted via modem,
and received at the user end with our desk accessory activated.
The desk accessory will play the music being received via modem through
the ST's speaker, and also to a MIDI synthesizer if connected to the
computer.
Songs on Mikeytraxx, disk #1 are:
1. Against all odds
2. Amadeus
3. Amanda
4. Axel F

How to use MUSICOMM.TTP
Musicomm has a TOS command line format as follows:
MUSICOMM songname.trx [/LOCAL]
The /LOCAL option is enclosed in brackets because it is optional. Using
this switch will tell MUSICOMM to operate without monitoring the carrier
detect status of your modem. If a user aborts MUSICOMM by hanging up
his telephone modem, the program will normally detect this if the /LOCAL
switch is not used.
Here are examples on how to install MUSICOMM for FoReM ST using MSH.
<This is an example of how to set up FDOORS.DAT>
MUSICOMM: Theme from Star Trek, The Motion Picture

MUSICOMM STARTREK.TRX /LOCAL
GOODBYE.MSG
MUSICOMM: Theme from Superman, The Movie

MUSICOMM SUPERMAN.TRX

If you do not have a shell program such as MSH, you may call the MUSICOMM
program directly from FoReM by renaming MUSICOMM.TTP to MSH.PRG and doing
the following:
<This is an example of how to set up FDOORS.DAT without using a shell>
MUSICOMM: Theme from Star Trek, The Motion Picture

STARTREK.TRX

For the above examples, all working files for using MUSICOMM should remain
in the directory where FOREM.TTP is located.
Note to FoReM ST users:
The job for you is simple. Just put MUSICOMM.ACC on your boot disk and
activate this accessory when on-line after FoReM ST prompts you to do so.
If your local bulletin board is not making MUSICOMM available to its
users, please upload this archive to their system. It costs absolutely
nothing to use MUSICOMM!
